Trento Railway Bypass (Section 3A)

Since late 2022, TunnelPro S.p.A. has been involved in the Trento Bypass project, with particular reference to the four-tracking of the Verona–Fortezza railway line, supporting Ghella in the development of the Technical and Economic Feasibility Design during the tender phase.
The engineering department carried out the preliminary construction planning study, defined the assembly, start-up and dismantling procedures for the TBMs, and analyzed methodological, logistical and organizational optimizations related to mechanized tunnelling operations. It also worked in close coordination with the TBM manufacturer, closely monitoring the design, manufacturing and factory acceptance testing phases of the machines. In 2024, the engineering department was appointed to design and provide the detailed drawings of the thrust structures required for machine launch.
At the end of 2025, TunnelPro was commissioned by the Tridentum Consortium to design and supply two sealing rings to be installed at the site portals where two 9.68 m diameter TBMs will be assembled. The equipment developed enables the launch of the two tunnels, with a total length of approximately 20 km, while ensuring face pressure control. Furthermore, under the same contract, the engineering department delivered a 3D model representing the machines during the assembly and start-up phases.
