The story (so far)

TUNNELPRO may be a young company, but it has solid foundations in the past, first as SELI then as Seli Technologies:
SELI S.p.A. was founded in 1950 by Carlo Grandori, engineer and designer of civil works as well as of special construction equipment. Born as general contractor in civil engineering works, in the course of its activity SELI developed as a specialized manufacturer/contractor in projects involving tunnels, caverns, shafts, etc.. In the 1970s, for the first time in Italy, SELI introduced the new technology of full face machines (Tunnel Boring Machines - TBM), while reducing the activity with the drill & blast method.
In 2000 SELI management created an internal business unit (SELI Tecnologie) to deal exclusively with the manufacturing of the TBM and the related services.
For 13 years SELI Tecnologie manufactured and/overhauled machines, initially to be used exclusively within SELI projects and later also to be sold to third parties in the international market. The first machines were all hard rock-type (double shield, universal double shield, compact double shield), but in the last years also EPB machines (Earth Pressure Balance, system adopted to excavate soil in urban contexts) entered in SELI Tecnologie’s portfolio.
From 2010 to 2013 SELI suffered the international conjuncture and was pushed to restructure its group to better face the new international scenario: it is therefore on October 2013 that the old SELI Tecnologie (just an internal business unit) became Seli Technologies S.r.l.: a new company, specialized in TBM manufacturing and servicing. Seli Technologies kept the same key staff and know-how of the mother company. 
Finally, the international tunneling giants Ghella and Masterdrilling jointly aquired Seli Technologies, through TUNNELPRO.
