Campolattaro Dam - Sections 1-2

Exploitation of the waters of the Campolattaro reservoir and strengthening of the drinking water supply (Lot 1)

TunnelPro has been involved in the Campolattaro project since its earliest stages, supporting Ghella in the development of the Technical and Economic Feasibility Design and in the review of the Detailed Design. The project primarily involves the excavation of a 7.5 km-long water diversion tunnel, aimed at optimizing the use of water resources from the artificial reservoir formed by the existing Campolattaro Dam. Beginning in spring 2023, TunnelPro carried out the construction planning study, the analysis of tender requirements — with particular focus on ATEX regulations — and the definition of the preliminary technical specifications for the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) and auxiliary equipment. During 2024, TunnelPro’s engineering team worked in close coordination with the manufacturer of TBM S-1407, overseeing the detailed design, manufacturing, and factory acceptance testing (FAT) phases at the production facility. From 2025 onwards, TunnelPro has provided technical support to the TBM department of Campolattaro Scarl, contributing to methodological, logistical, and organizational optimizations, as well as assisting the consortium’s procurement department throughout the supply process. In parallel, TunnelPro has delivered specialized consultancy services on project geology and ground conditioning strategies for excavation. TunnelPro is currently actively engaged in the assembly phase of the EPB (Earth Pressure Balance) TBM, featuring an excavation diameter of 5.42 m and equipped with a backup system approximately 320 m in length. The system has been designed in compliance with the most recent industry standards in terms of quality, safety, and environmental protection, including regulations addressing the potential presence of gas during excavation activities.
