TBMs are often operated in very extreme environments, and despite all the countermeasures that are usually equipped on these machines (probe drills, dewatering pumps, etc.), sometimes they encounter exceptional conditions or unexpected events that compromise their advancement or stop it completely. TunnelPro’s personnel has encountered many situations like these in the last decades, in proprietary projects or as technical consultant. From lining collapse, to flooding, to geological events, we are able to assess the situation, propose the best solution, and prepare a method statement on how to implement the mitigatory measures and restart the normal excavation procedures.
